I first wrote this in January 2021 (updated in March) and we are in lockdown again but the good news is that we can still keep dancing together on Zoom. So many students are now enjoying dancing online, knowing that they can still see friends and take part in lessons without having to worry about public transport or other crowded places.

Last term I taught fourteen weekly group courses plus a number of wedding dance private lessons and professional tuition for trainee dance teachers completing their IDTA Associate exams. I ran two charity fundraising events (£570 raised for Cancer Research UK and over £1000 for the Mary Ward settlement) and a number of free festive events over the Christmas period. Considering the situation we find ourselves in at the moment, I’m quite proud of that – and I am very grateful to all who have supported the sessions.

Dancing online has helped keep the class communities going and having fun together

With another lockdown just announced, online learning is there to keep us dancing (or singing, drawing, exercising, studying, discussing…) and for participants it’s also a way of keeping in touch with friends from class and a way of supporting the tutors and organisations that you would like to return to face to face in the future.

Feb / March 2021 Programme

These classes have now started but I have left the information here for future reference as they are likely to come around again in late April after the Easter holidays. I will update this nearer the time.

My private classes that started in January are now reaching the end of their five week block. I am running another block of the two most popular courses, still at the reduced price of £4.00 per session pro rata, which is half price compared to studio classes. Advance booking is required. Email emma@dted.co.uk for payment details.

Latin Line Dance – Monday 8:00-8:50am from 22nd Feb for four weeks. Rise and shine with Latin Line, dancing solo versions of Latin favourites (Cha Cha, Samba, Mambo and more) designed to get you started in the morning. £16.00 for four sessions.

Rock ‘n’ Roll – Tuesday 18:00-19:00pm from 23rd Feb for for six weeks. This popular class returns with a solo version of the previous Rock ‘n’ Roll (including Jive and Swing) classes at the Elephant & Castle pre-lockdown. £24.00 for six sessions.
